Ceiba boliviana, over here known as "paineira-rosa", occurs on a vast territory including Brasil, Bolivia and Paraguay. It has a very particular way of spreading its seeds. After pollination, big "bulbs" are formed. They contain the seeds that are surrounded by a cotton bed. Once the bulbs dry, they open up and the wind then takes care of flying "cotton parachutes" with seeds inside them. Halebidu was, it seems, one of the capitals of the Hoysala Empire of South India, some 1,000 years ago. Halebidu Temple represents some of the most fantastic temple carvings of the Hoysalas.
